Steven Parkman is an experienced trial attorney who has practiced disability and personal injury law in Northern Indiana for more than 30 years, working with some of the best known trial lawyers in the state. He has concentrated his legal practice in Social Security Disability, Personal Injury and Worker’s Compensation claims.​ Steve opened his own office in South Bend, Indiana more than 15 years ago. 

Before entering law school, Steve worked in coke ovens in steel mills and was a claims representative employed by the Social Security Administration. Steve received nearly 1,000 hours of Social Security's formal classroom training. As a claims representative, Steve met directly with the public and decided all non-medical issues involved in Social Security claims. Steve's extensive knowledge of the Social Security system and practical experience with labor provides him with unique insights when helping clients obtain Social Security benefits. Steve understands the minds and hearts of Hoosiers because he is one.

Steve graduated in 1984 from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he was awarded two American Jurisprudence Awards for excellent achievement in the study of Civil Procedure and Professional Responsibility.

Through his many years of practicing law, Steve has developed extensive relationships with medical doctors throughout northern Indiana, enabling him to be effective and efficient in developing the proof necessary to win your case.

Steve first came to South Bend twenty years ago with the former personal injury law firm of Sweeney, Pfeifer and Blackburn.  Steve is skilled in negotiating with insurance companies and will work to settle cases as quickly as possible, but without compromising the medical improvement and medical needs of his clients.  If necessary, he will take your case to trial.

Steve grew up in Michigan City, Indiana and moved to South Bend, Indiana with his lovely wife of thirty years, Susan, when she was promoted to management in the South Bend Social Security office.

Steve has lectured and written on Social Security issues, including lecturing with University of Notre Dame Law School Professor and Associate Dean Robert Jones on ethical issues in Social Security practice.  In 2007, Steve was part of a 50-lawyer delegation to China where he educated Chinese lawyers on our American legal system.

Steve is admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana, the federal Northern District of Indiana, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, St. Joseph County Bar Association, Indiana Bar Association, Robert A. Grant Inn of Courts.

Steve is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives.
